Fabia 1.4 16v coolant leak

Featured Replies

My friends Fabia is literally pouring out its coolant from behind the lower section of the cambelt cover.

Leaking water pump perhaps?

Has anyone else had this issue?

Sounds like water pump if it's coming from the timing casing.

thsnks for re affirming my thoughts

Difficult to change on these?? :)

just want to change the pump, not the belt.

Crazy to do one without the other really. Belt kits arnt that expensive anyway.

You have to take the big belt off anyway to do the pump so unless it's already all new then replace both belts and tensioner/idler while it's in bits.

Even if it's still quite new, I'd replace it anyway if it's been contaminated with coolant for xxxx amount of miles.

Thanks for the advise, chaps.

I'll tell him to buy the whole kit.

I used to get the pump replaced every second timing belt change.

Cambelt easy enough to change on these?

Engine hoist to support engine, remove engine mount for access?

As long as you have the timing locking kit, yes.
