Colombus, android and Smart Link on My15

Featured Replies

I am so sad now. My new vRS was produced May 11th, so if I have understood correctly, its no possible way for me to have Smart Link.

14 days later, it would have had Smart Link..

Is there any way for me to have my android screen to show on my Colombus, and be able to control it from the Colombus?

Any boxes to connect to the system, upgrade for the colombus?

I want to be able to control Spotify, navigation and other apps.

I have seen some systems, but all require to open the screen, and connect cables to the touch screen. So they are more for all systmens.

Then I thought since the "brain" of the system is in the glove compartment, maybe a system that can be connected to a cable behind the unit exist. There has to be cables for both touch and video going from the unit in the glove compartment to the screen, so any way to connect to those?

I have also seen an aftermarked head unit, with android, that has most of the skoda settings avalible, but dont know if that will work on the 2015 vrs.

Hope anyone with more knowledge can help me.

Head Unit:

Will this work with my car, or will there be a problem with other systems in the car?

Anyone?

Any thoughts on the head unit?

You can still use Bluetooth audio to control the music on your phone right? Maybe even have track listing show up on the screen as Bluetooth foes support this.

BT does not support listing of tracks in playlist, does it? On my Columbus I can only skip to next track, not see the whole playlist.

Haven't got my car yet but you may be right. You generally can get track information and skip forward and back, haven't seen anything (yet) which lists.

Yes, you can only skip tracks, not choose from a list.

But does anyone know anything about how the Columbus gets the settings for the car?

Is that a "open" system (canbus maybe), that will work on any aftermarked head unit that supporter canbus?

Or does the new head unit have to have all those settings programed for Skoda?

In this video, you can see most of the Skoda settings working

How does it get these settings? Does it connect to the unit in the glove compartment, or is it totaly independent?

My Skoda dealer told me that the whole system is in the unit in the glove compartment, and that the screen is just a screen, and that the rest of the cars systems are takling to eachother, so I couldnt remove it.

What do you think, is that aftermarket unit a plug and play with all settings?
