Multiple USB Charging

Featured Replies

I'm fed up with equipment and chargers dotted round the house and want to try and consolidate into a single point - would something like the Anker 6 Port be suitable? They do a 60W 6 Port and a 40W 5 Port, although I'm not sure which would be best?

We have the following in the household: Nokia Lumia 830, Nokia Lumia 625, 2x Google Nexus 7, Amazon Fire HD and Linx 10 tablet. (I'm going to run the Linx on a USB adapter as it currently runs via a dedicated jack plug type charger)

I'd go for the 60W unless there is a huge difference in the price.

I've got two, although I knackered one port somehow, but the 5 port one charges a sat nav (prior to a journey), my SGS4 & Galaxy Note 10.1 all at the same time and in reasonable time.

I don't know how I lived before having these chargers. I have 2 at home, and one at work, yet still need more ports.

On Amazon (not looked anywhere else yet):

60W-6 port : £25.99

40W-5 port : £18.99

Amazon claim the RRP on the 6 port is £52

I have just had 2 double 13A + USB sockets fitted in an updated kitchen and one in the lounge and am very pleased with them.

Those sockets look the business.

Might get one installed in the holiday caravan to save taking up, or leaving a charger there as I'm replacing all the sockets and switches anyway as they're knackered.

Definitely thinking about those sockets - save having chargers sitting about.

Went to Screwfix on Sunday but forgot to pick one up for the kitchen.

Need a new socket putting in under the stairs then I'll get the Anker Port.

Make sure the sockets are not using energy when nothing is charging in them, especially in the caravan.

Power's always off unless occupied.

Would it be drawing that much power?

Actually there's usually a transformer behind them like shaver sockets and that transformer is often always on.

In the shaver sockets there are some which switch on when used and some that are just on.

The draw probably isn't huge when off, but it's like having something on standby when off.

Enough of them and over a year or two and it does add up.

I got a couple of these recently:

They're pretty good too, as you get 3 sockets, a decent powered pair of USB and you can turn it off.

I'd say they're ideal for the bedroom where you may have a radio, a lamp and a phone to charge.

I have the 5 port version of this and it works really well. I have a 6 port one fom another vendor and works well as well. I like the fact that I can use any old figure 8 power cable, especially handy when travelling. I have a US lead and getting a EU one soon. Simply swap the lead, no need for adapters. Charges our 3 phones and two tablets without issue.

Best thing I've got for our technology

I've got 2 Anker chargers, the 2nd arrived yesterday and one will be kept as work one (5 port), the new 6 port IQ one will stay at home.

Both are excellent pieces of kit and I'd recommend them both.
