Little advice please

Featured Replies

I have notesed every time I service my car that the engine oil is black even soon after the oil change it's black very quick I tried using a can of engine flush on its last change with no results.my car is a 05 octavia 2.0 tdi dsg with 135000+ miles and runs great starts great pulls very well and returns very good mpg I just wonded if it is something I need to be concerned about?

Is there anything I can do about it?

And what can be reason for it ?

Cheers kev.

P.s I change the oil every 5 to 6 thousand miles with the recommended long life oil

I'd say that's quite normal for diesels - at least I don't know anyone who manages to drain that used oil the same color as it was before filling :)

It's normal. It turns black after running for the first time.

As long as you're sticking to the recommended schedules etc then you have nothing to worry about.

Don't forget the 40k mile DSG oil changes too :)

Burning diesel creates soot, black soot.

That golden colored oil will turn black within a few miles if not sooner.

Thanks for the advice chaps that's put my mind at rest and I did the dsg box oil and filter soon as I got it cheers lads atb kev.

good oil goes black very quickly because it is high in detergents & deliberately tries to keep solids in suspension rather than letting them sludge up in the sump

I did used to change the oil twice in my old car

First lot after been drained was cheap oil to 'clean' out the rest of the old oil

Let the first lot drain out

Then refill with new better oil:)
