VW Golf Mk5 GTI Flat Bottom SW

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Looking at the possibility of chaging the Steering Wheel in my Mk2 Octy vRS to a  Flat Bottom one. My question is will the VW Golf Mk5 GTI wheel fit and Will it take the Octy's airbag? (they look similar) wanna swap non MFSW to non MFSW

Cheers

Definitely doable, but I think you need the VW airbag, and a different steering wheel controller, slip ring and steering wheel wiring loom

Sorry, I don't know all the part numbers

If the wheel in non multi function why would I need a different controller / loom etc?

Shame all the same, in my naivety I thought it might be a simple swap thinking they'd have all common parts

Cheers for the reply anyway

Sorry, I read it wrong, I went from non MF to MF with paddles

You will still need the VW airbag though, as it is a different shape to the Skoda

I think the actual airbag is the same, so you could get away with just a VW cover

Although VW golf airbag are cheap now

How much are they roughly? I like that!

Fitted a mk6 Golf GTD to my octy.

All buttons etc work.

I do miss having a flat bottom steering wheel my vxr had one much nicer...buy too much hassle to change over for me

That would look brilliant if it wasnt for the VW badge!

Its easy to swap. If your not bothered about the buttons working even easier. Took me about an hour to fit, change control module and code it in.
