Vrs mirror drip on to door?

Featured Replies

Is it me or does anyone else find it extremely annoying that the vrs mirrors drip water down the doors leaving a water line stain down each door! This is especially annoying when washed and polished and the mirror carries on leaking water lines down the doors! Why would they not just design them to drip 1 inch further out to avoid the doors! Nice shiny octavia with a water stain down each door so frustrating! :/

If you think they are bad the b6 Passat is worse . Get a blower on eBay and blow the water out of mirrors and shut lines

Bloody hell must be really bad on passat then! Honestly what a stupid design it's so bad the water leaves stain lines what a joke!

Why they don't have tiny exit holes for the water , mind you the skirts on the R36 are just as bad open door dry the sills and skirts then close the door and water drips out

Yeah that's the same on the octy! I've read posts on other sites where members have drilled small holes in the bottom of the mirror away from the door and have reported it seems to cure! It's weather or not I fancy drilling the covers underneath! On the passat site that is!

Dry and finish car as normal, any water drips from the mirror afterward sort out with some quick detailer and a microfiber an hour or so later

That's what I do zillio, but should that have to be this way, I may consider some small drill holes underneath to help them drain properly!

Never noticed it on Rallye Green. May show more on some colours, my marks come from behind the rear number plate. But perfection doesn't exist.

Could you place a small strip of tape underneath mirror to re-direct water drip?

I considered this using black gaffa tape, however the mirror may just fill up with water plus when folding the mirror in it will wear the tape off!

My wing mirrors both have resident spiders which must drink and bath in it.

OK, I gave in and drilled a hole in each mirror underneath, I must admit it's improved it massively there is only 1 tiny drip now and I poured buckets of water in the mirror and instantly it all drained from the hole!

I drilled a hole underneath in each mirror, problem solved give it a go!

If anybody was walking past while you guys were drilling holes into a wing mirror of a brand new car the look on their face would have been priceless

Any pics of the location and size of the holes you drilled?

As long as the holes are far enough away from the body you should be fine just avoid the end where the led flashes as you don't want to drill into any electrics, so anywhere central is fine.

On a VRS, isn't there suppose to be a ground-light where those holes are drilled?

No ground light on my VRS mirrors, maybe electric folding ones!
