I have the Columbus and have updated it once but really have no idea what firmware or map version I am running! - could someone tell me if there is a newer version available?

You could do a map update but I'd leave the firmware alone. Nothing much newer or better above what you have already.

After digging I reckon I got V11 maps? and V12 is the lastest and V13 is going to be issued shortly... am I on the right track?!!

Firmware is 5238, 5274 is available but there is no real improvement from what I understand.

 

As Rustynuts says, you're on V11 maps but V12 are available and V13 should be out around October/November (from what I've heard).
