Is it my MAF???

Featured Replies

Having trawled through the MAF threads, i'm thinking mine might need to be cleaned or at worst replaced.

Symptoms include intermittent acceleration, worse in the wet, kinda like its delaying itself....weird!

Ticks over fine, no horrible noises or whatever, no missing like a wet lead etc, recent coil packs. Any other ideas?

Been to my local Maplins, they don't have any IPA spray in, can anyone recommend me somewhere to buy some from online?

That does sound like maf. I cleaned the one in my Audi turbo with some electrical circuit board cleaner, (as long as it evaporates fast then you should be ok. Some people use cd cleaner). When I did this, it made no difference at all, but I bought a new MAF on exchange (they keep the original) and that was 90 pounds I think.

It gave the car it's life back, and responsiveness was back to what it had been when I first got the car, 40,000 miles earlier.

Took it apart, sprayed it thoroughly with Silkolene contact cleaner (what i had at hand, that or pledge!), put it back together, job's a good un.For now at least! Bring on that power, how i've missed you!

if you run an induction kit you'll need to do this every time you clean the filter (mines done every 10k miles).
