G201 Sensor Failure

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have this error on my '07 Octavia, I've read that it's pretty common and has to do with the ABS/ESP pressure sensor.

Not sure if I'm ready to fix this since this has been on the car for the past 3 years (according to previous owner)

Can I clear the error and switch the indicator light in the dashboard off by using VCDS?

Anyone? :)

My mate just had this on his VW Toureg, G201.

£230 fitted from a VW specialist.

He was told by the garage that the ESP light was an MOT failure but others have said it isn't.

It has passed it's MOT in Iceland since the light came on in 2011, previous owner never did anything about it so I was thinking if it was possible to disable/turn the light off?

I don't any experience with a broken MK60 unit, but even with ESP disabled I would still expect the warning light to be on as I believe this effects the ABS too. You probably don't have functioning ABS so you might want to find a safe place to see if it is working.

Happy to be wrong but I think the only real solution is replacing the ABS unit. Shouldn't be hard for a good mechanic, or even a competent home mechanic with access to VCDS for the bleeding procedure after replacement. You might even be able to get a used unit on eBay otherwise there are companies that have redesigned the faulty component and offer good warranties against there replacements.
