Fabia VRS DSG at Santa Pod Saturday?! Newbie!

Featured Replies

Hi all

Was blown away at Ultimate Street car at the weekend watching a red Fabia VRS petrol get a 14.2 on the 1/4 mile strip, in virtual silence! Back in the day this was the exact time I got in my Sierra Cosworth Stage 1 running about 270 bhp! Is it anyone on here?! would be very interested to know what mods it had :)

So this is a very strong contender for my next car. Currently driving a Leon FR 150bhp TDi, which to he fair has been brilliant, nice to drive, quickish and I get insane MPG! I used to sell cars and once had a Fabia VRS TDi 130 special edition which was fun to drive!

Interested to know what the VRS DSG is like on a daily basis, my only concern is I always get high 50's and at best 73.5 mpg! on my daily 20-30 minute commute to work, so unsure what the VRS would actually give, have seen 54 mpg on autotrader figures but, hmmm!

Any information greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hi CB - Welcome to Briskoda....

Looking forward to reading more on this topic... if the guys is on the forum,...  ;)

Welcome to the forum.

(Maybe TomR888 on here in the Red vRS, in May his car was standard & full of stuff and i think he was 14.6 seconds)

If you look in the Fabia mk2 section you will see the Santa Pod Meet from May Thread at the top of the page.

& another thread on the page that i posted in yesterday with a couple of Santa Pod Vids.

You might get long term between 32-42 mpg.

You can get 52 mpg plus on certain runs, and you can get it as low as 22 mpg without difficulty.

Different Engines & Management, 2010-2012 late. (CAVE) Can be Mapped Stage 1 to 205 BHP plus.

 then 2012-2014 (CTHE)

Already from the factory, between 185-192 bhp on 99 ron,

No Remaps available, even when APR / REVO etc say there are.

Best read up on them.

the Engine Failures, the Fixes, the Replacement Engines, Breather & ECU Updates and new Oil Spray Jets, (Squirters) the Warranties etc.

Then maybe look at getting one with Warranty Cover.

Plenty of Bargains to be had.

Do not let one with a replacement engine put you off,

some of those fastest at Santa Pod in May had recent replacement engines from Skoda.

& the Silver Estate car was Standard, nearly new, and first time up the strip.

Thanks lads, lots of information there!

Wow, 14.6 standard?! lol and TomR888 is a petrol not derv one? I really need to drive one of these. I was initially attracted to the outside, and think the insides are pretty smart too! It was just comical how quick and quiet it was, compared to the plethora on Hondas etc... with awful sounding exhausts getting much worse times!

I must say with my mpg I tend to sit in 6th about 65ish on cruise and always get good mpg so have been into diesels for a while now!

Cheers

(The Blue vRS in the Bottom Video with a standard engine & car loaded, & 2 up was a 6.1 second 0-60)

I get 45 mpg plus at 70 mph & have a CAVE Stage 1. You should get that easily running Standard on 99 ron.

60 MPH Average Speed Camera routes and it is high 50's.

But cold starts, and it is near 10 miles until the Oil is up to temp,

and on a 10 mile run, its 25-35 MPG.

.................

This was a Briskoda Member, there are a few of his vids on youtube.

1.4 TSI  180 ps minimum (1390 cc Twincharged CAVE Engine)

and TMC Tuning Box and Change of Air Intake. 211.6 bhp

(there is a good build thread in the Fabia Projects. 'vrspowered')

Grey vRS CTHE Cat Back Exhaust change and Air Filter.

Blue vRS Standard Replacement CAVE Engine & ITG Intake i think. (car full from trip down from Scotland)

#veryimpressed :)

Thanks for the all the feedback

So you are saying even in standard form these are hitting 60 in about six seconds?!

6.5 easily on 99 ron and good tyres.

Actually 0-10 mph is not its best feature, & TC must be off.

Try and get a road test,

rolling starts and 10-110 mph is a hoot.
