Improve vrs handling and tighten up steering response

Featured Replies

HI all, I've recently upgraded my RARB to a whiteline and currently have it set to medium. now i wanna improve front end steering response.

I have brand new good year eagle F1 all round and its been align but front end doesn't feel responsive enough.

I had rear wish bone mounts replace but only with oem parts last year. would replacing them with solid 1 improve handling on front end alone or will I require more.

ok so its 2 am and i'm doing some reading.

read that fitting either audi TT or s3 front lower arms is a good starting point. I know with the TT it changes camber settings but s3 are identical but are lighter as there made from aluminium instead of pressed steel and come with stiffer bushes.

does any 1 have any part numbers. I'm struggling to find anything.

Replace the rear wishbone bushes for non void once, and a hunter 4 wheel alignment should improve your steering response. It did in mine.

adding front arb will help, but to get the front to turn in well you need some negative camber.  TT arms and ball joints will give you this out of the box, or go with some adjustable ball joints, or superpro bushes (alk), or you could add some camber by adding adjustable top mounts.    I had tt arms but with the lower offset (and wider) wheels i ran it was a bit too much, swapped to cupra/s3 arms (geo is the same as vrs so the only benefit is weight saving) which i bought new via AKS that came with non-voided bushes) with superpro adjustable ball joints.  With the TT arms i had about -2 which was epic for handling but wore the insides of the tyres a bit too much.. with the cupra/adjustable ball joints set up i had around -1.1 which was a great compromise .    combined with the stiffer RARB this worked very well - turn in much better, flatter and no discernable difference in tyre wear.

buy the Supaloy Alloy lower arms.  I'm pretty sure they come with camber adjustment in the console bush. (best you check).

The S3 arms should be 1K0407151Ak & 1K0407152AK

If you just want to do the console bush it's a Febi 33973

Passat arms (& Superb?) are the same as S3 but the console housing needs re-drilling.

Here's lots of info on the TT arms / partnos

In a nutshell, you need more camber (and possibly a fraction more caster)

People have said about the white line anti lift kit which seems to do the job very well :)

I prefer the Fulcrum stuff.  The camber & caster are more important than the anti-lift.
