Is the ESP "interfering" while cornering?

Featured Replies

As one comes off the M22 at Ballymena, a fast sweeping right hander, with perhaps a touch of adverse camber, due to the poorly located onslip adjacent.

I have gotten into the habit of attempting to drive round this bend faster, weather, road conditions and lack of other traffic permitting.

And attempting to run my 3.5mm tread depth Winter tyres done, to be replaced for the winter.

But despite zero "swiggitty swooty" or sense of drift or other untoward sensitations, I "feel" the car is ignoring my throttle input, or else I am just plumb chicken and my right foot intuitively "backs off".

I really cannot decide.

Ps

I cannot fault the Conti winters in respect of this issue.

I think that when ESP is activated it limits your throttle input. Just switch it off on the dash and see if it helps. I know when I had my Falkens on the front the ESP always used to interfere with harsh cornering+acceleration, then when I swapped over to Yokohamas I never really noticed it kicking in often after that.
