Missing relay

Featured Replies

I need to replace the Glow plug relay and the engine temperature sender on a 2002 Fabia 1.9 SDI Comfort. where will I find them both. JohnHeb.

Pretty sure the glow plug relay on your vehicle will have the number 103 on the top of it. And it's found on the drivers side under the lower dashboard cover. Coolant temp sensor will be on the right hand side of the cylinder head as you look at the engine with the bonnet open.

Just a thought why are you changing the glow plug relay? Are you changing it due to non start and no glow plug illumination on the dashboard?

I'm changing the relay because the glow plug light comes on for a fraction of a second then goes off and the plugs do not heat the engine for long enough for it to start. By switching the ignition on and off about 5 times you generate enough heat to start so I am changing the relay to see if it gives any improvement. If no luck thought I would change the engine temp sender as this could be causing the relay to drop out if it is sending the wrong information. John.

Try pulling the temperature sensor plug off see if it starts better. Have you got a test light? Check your glow plugs by removing the feed wire then put one side of your test light on the battery plus terminal then the spike end on the top of the glow plug. If it lights up bright then the glow plug will be good. If it's dim you have resistance in the glow plug. If no light at all the glow plug is dead. Check all 4. Relay 109 is the voltage supply relay for the ecu. This also feeds glow plug relay 103. If that 109 relay has gone you in my experience will not see any illumination of the glow symbol.

Thanks for all the advice. I will do as you suggest and report back. John.
