Battery issue?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Picked up my 03 yesterday, battery after my test drive on monday was low as it bleated about it in the maxidot, was advised that its not been driven around much.

I've done a good 40miles in it, and start stop is in a state its happy to shut the engine down. HOWEVER, at traffic earlier it stopped, then decided it wanted to start the engine again, and failed to start, i manually started and it only JUST caught... and thats happened a few times.

Wondering if i have a shot battery that Start/Stop thinks is fine? had to push the whole car out of my parking space and down a hill to turn the engine over after sitting out in it for 15min last night doing some VCDS codings.

Car is coming up to 2 years old in November.. i'm going to do be doing a nice long run to London and back tomorrow so should get a decent charge into it.

Edit: can't also seem to get a battery status display up..

VCDS coding flattened the battery I think....................also the batteries that VAG fit are the smallest they can get away with, so fit a bigger capacity & AGM type & you will have to recode the battery size/type/serial number into the BCM using VCDS.

Confirmed. New battery fitted, will get the garage to code the battery change when they refund me... Which they had better do...

Battery low warning was on when I test drove and they said it just needed to be run in..

Odd this, I've had mine from new and had battery drain issues.

And a low battery a few times.

After the new battery is fitted, do you get a high power draw message under the start stop system menu?
