1.2 12v crankshaft oil seal

Featured Replies

Recently changed the timing chain on my Fabia, 1.2 12v azq engine. I replaced the oil seal at the time but it seems like it's leaking after about two month.

So what's involved with just changing the seal, do I need to put the timing pins in? I don't think I need to but just checking as a precaution more than anything.

I replaced the bolt, sleeve that goes inside the crankshaft oil seal and the chunky brown o-ring that sits inside that, so kind of annoying really!

Thanks

Might be indicating a problem with the PCV system, rather than that seal. If you take the oil filler cap off at idle, does it feel like it's being pulled back down (good) or pushed up (not so good).

Can't say I've checked anything els but will do that.

I've neglected the car in all honesty, been to busy with everything els I just put a chain on and drove it.

Will do a decent service, clean the throttle body, inlet manifold, map sensor and egr valve when I change the seal, hopefully give the car a new lease of life.

Bump - with regards to the opening post really.

Definitely being pulled down.

Engine nearly cut out when removed and again when refitted

Well I was confident the seal had failed so got a new one under warranty, was £9 from euro car parts if you wanted to buy it off the shelf.

New bottom pully bolt, sleeve that sits inside the crankshaft oil seal and the o-ring that sits behind that came to £18.00

So for less than £30 and an hours work it's all sorted.
