Wheel Change WIth Tyre Sensor

Featured Replies

Looking to fit winter tyres on my Monte and was wondering about the sensor, after I have fitted the tyres would I need to go into the dealer and get the sensors refitted or is it a east job to do. Its still under warranty so might need to go to main dealer.

The tyre sensor works by calculating differing wheel speeds.

I believe to reset this you press a button near the gear stick

There is no sensor on or in the Wheel / Tyres.

The ABS system on the car reads the rotations of the wheels for the TPMS.

I would expect an indirect system to be fitted where there are no sensors in the wheels, it's just the ABS unit counting revolutions per wheel. As m1985 said, just press the button once it's done.

For more information about direct/indirect systems this is a good page: http://www.my-gti.com/321/volkswagen-tyre-pressure-monitoring-system-tpms
