Legal - getting a refund off an online shop?

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

After abit of help really. Im struggling with an online retailer.

I places an order on the 25th may with the understand that the product will arrive in 5-7 working days. I payed on paypal for thr items which came to around £50

In the 5-7 working days i decided i wanted something else off them so placed another order, via debit card for around £40.

After much contacting asking where the goods are, i decided to cancel my order 15 days ago.

Their t&c's usually within 7 days but say defo within 14 days, which i believe is law?

Now im not holding my breath about getting it back.

I know i can set about a dispute to get my paypal money back, but how do i get the money ive paid by debit back?

Cheers in advance

Which order are you cancelling?

Sorry it posted before id finished haha.

Both orders. Had enough of waiting, had to go elsewhere

Have you given them written notice (like email etc. ) that you wish to cancel? If so then you should be able to just get a refund. Or are they being bullsh and refusing a refund? Was it a Visa debit card you paid with, if so tell your bank that you've cancelled the order due to non delivery and would like them to initiate a "Visa charge back" for the amount paid.

I have it all in writting, all their bull**** excuses, and them saying all the time i can have a refund at any point, along with them accepting my refund request. But they just dont seem to do anything. No matter what is said, nothing seems to happen.

Ive been waiting for a phonecall for 2 weeks now so they can take my card details again to refund me. Nothing of it though.

Yeah visa debit. Ooh i didnt know i could do that? Will the bank be happy just getting it me back straight away then?

They might mumble and grumble, or deny they can do it, or any number of excuses. The simple fact is it's a Visa service which they can and should do if you request it, but they often don't know about the system. Just tell them it's a "Visa Charge Back" you need, and if they can't help you ask for their supervisor.
