1.2 tsi 105 remap. ...

Featured Replies

Anyone gone down this path?

What are the real world driving differences?

Scale of 0 - 10

0 - slightly faster

10- kinell that's rapid!

Looking at it but not done it yet

Worried about how much more power a 1.2 will take without causing any issues

There is a guy near us who puts tuning boxes on turbos - petrol or diesel

Many round here have had it done and been ok

He's told me £150 will put 50bhp on and I would imagine it could be removed when needed

I would have preferred 30 or 40bhp tbh just for reliability purposes tho!

Hmmm boxes are not really the best way - they just intercept engine date and feed the dummy figures to allow more fuel and boost etc

If I were to have it done then it would be a map from a known source.

As for worrying about the 1.2 then I understand what you are saying as the 105 is already a warmed up version of the 85. It depends on how much boost is being used and what sort of punishment the additional torque

I'm not really arsed about the headline power figure, just better in gear acceleration really - diesel style :)

Doubt he'd put 50bhp on a 1.2 105bhp. Some have dyno'd them straight out the factory and seen 120bhp.

No chance itll make 170bhp, and if it did it wouldnt be a clever thing to do.

Around the 140bhp mark is safely achieveable iirc

the 105 isn't a warmed up 86 I don't believe its more a case of the 86 being a sort of luke warm 105

Right so the 105 is standard 1.2tsi power. The 86 is a detuned version of the 105.

How would anyone know that?

Edit: thinking about it, the 86bhp model remapping to 140bhp would be a 60% power increase.

105bhp to 140 would only be a third. 33% increase.

33% sounds much more respectable than 60% for a stage 1.

So maybe the 86 is a detuned 105.

If you sorta understand what im trying to say? Haha

Indeed. Were you not taught to think before you speak? Non of this 'edit' rubbish in the forums of old. Tut.

I still havent thought... ;).

Had my 1.2 86 remapped with a Revo Stage 1 map and I can definitely say that its a huge difference, much better throttle repsonse, reduced turbo lag and much smoother power delivery. Real improvement over standard and no regrets at all.

have you done any other things to the car too? There is an upgrade you can do on the 1.2 tsi from the 1.4tsi vrs which nobody as done yet. I was trying things from my vrs to my friends 1.2tsi and it fits, twice as big ;)

Intercooler?

Intercooler?

nope!

The air intake and trumpet from a vrs will fit the 1.2 tsi and it's double in size.

It's like the pd130 to the pd160 on the mk1 fabia vrs.

My friend is running one on his 1.2 tsi ibiza fr now ;)

If anyone has an Airbox removed from a Mk2 Fabia vRS & they are not keeping it then 'Naths vRS' is looking for one & a Heat Shield.

(Post in the Items Wanted section.)

Oh right. So does this make a difference? If so it would imply the std 1.2 intake is restrictive....

wouldnt it only make a difference after a remap anyway?

You might ask ' why did Skoda CZ not just use this Trumpet & Airbox if the engine performs that much better?'

The answer might be that the more air will be requiring more fuel, and in the present weather the Temp in the Airbox is OK,

but come cooler ambient temperatures you might find the Sensors & Engine Management do not adjust as well.

But its worth the try, and if for the UK (location) there is no problem, or it is just more fuel used to get a power gain then that is OK.

You can always change back to a standard set up if it is an issue in Winter.

Will the standard ECU map adjust enough to make use of the extra available air though do you think?

No idea,,(not a scooby)

Sometime people like cars that make more noise, and that for them feels like going faster, but 60 stays 60, & 70 stays 70mph.

Maybe their car does get to 60mph quicker, or just sounds like it does.

Personally i find it embarrassing for drivers of cars that sound like they are accelerating really quickly and they are still not that far away up the road 8 or 9 seconds later.

Ahh. Itll give an intake noise will it.

Yeah i have to agree there. Unless its getting to 60 in less than 6 seconds, id keep it quiet personally. Aha.

Each to their own though eh

I would personally say that the 1.2tsi intake and trumpet is very restrictive. All I know is that the more cold air you get in the better the car will perform. For get all your induction kits there pointless unless your going for massive bhp increase that's why I've still got the standard airbox in with everything cut out of it.

Also my friend is getting a blue spark box and a itg replacement filter for it.

Nothing else engine related. Might have a look into this air intake mod though.

I should have took a picture of the difference between them
