Airbag light on dash

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Just a quickie for you all

Ive got an 06 octavia elegance and has the airbags built into the front seats. The airbag light has come on recently. After being plugged in at a local garage it cane up saying the drivers seat module is faulty.

My question is this, can the module be changed or do i have to change the whole seat? If i do either, will it then need to be coded?

Thanks guys.

had the same issue and kept cropping up even after a software reset on the vcd. but he somehow managed to remove it for now! i ll let u know after asking him

The fault is most likely the airbag wiring / connectors under the drivers seat rather than the airbag module itself. It is a common problem with the mk2 octavia.

I have checked the connectors and all seems ok.

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me mate. In located in Lampeter, West Wales. SA48 postcode.

I agree with Mikeholroyd....there was an airbag light on when I first went to view my VRS estate, I decided it wasn't a deal breaker for purchasing but  I knew it would be an MOT failure. I asked my regular garage to check it out just before my recent MOT. Computer said it was the unit under the passenger seat, however, the garage had seen and dealt with similar issues before and simply unplugged and cleaned the connectors thoroughly (as suggested above) and then reset the fault code.....and so far so good, no more airbag light....cost me a grand sum of £30 which is fine by me as my days of sorting out wiring issues myself are long gone :)

So cleaning may be worth doing before buying a new unit which was about £100 fitted from memory....you just need to get that reset sorted.

Try adamal in Newport if you can't find anyone closer

Mike

By all means, but it's a fair old trek!
