Just noticed a nail in a tyre. Is it fixable or do I need a new tyre?.tyre pressure warning light has not come on.

Had one just the same at the start of the week. Easily fixed, though my wallet now needs repairing, as it has too big a hole in it!

I prefer to think of it as a 'spare tyre' inflation kit :)

How much to fix?.

The last two I've had, same position as that, have been around £20. They have to extract the nail/screw then drill out the hole so it can take a mushroom plug. Seems a bit more pricey than just a patch (where the hole is thin enough to almost self-heal).

ATs charged us £21.95 to repair a tyre on Mrs Rubble's Octavia a couple of weeks ago. Similar looking puncture to the above.

Mushroom plug pennies if DIY, £10 if garage. Proper vulcanised repair £20-30.

My tyre fitter charged me £17. Very similar place.

Go to a small tyre repair place if you can find one.  My local one charges £8 for a puncture repair.  Never had a problem with the work they have done for me.

Tyre been fixed with a patch. £7.
