Temperature warning light flashing...

Featured Replies

Got in the vRS, drove off, few yards down the road a heart attack inducing 'bleep bleep bleep' and the red temperature warning light is blinking.

What?!? Only just started driving, can't be overheated. Stupid car.

After a little while noticed the analogue temp gauge doesn't move at all.

Journey back after engine switch off, no warning light, gauge all working fine...

Gremlins at play. I presume some sensor or cabling to sensor has gone belly up? Or is there some other problem? Wouldn't be affected by my leak or yet to be replaced passenger front side faulty speaker/wiring would it?!?

Just something to check, mine does this when the coolant level drops below a certain point.. Is the coolant fully topped up ? (Not a VRS)

Also, is the car parked on an incline ? Mine is, so when I take the car off the drive, if I switch the ignition off then off again, the light disappears.

Cheers.

RBW.

It happend to me on my pd100 and I topped up and then it bipped again after 2 weeks(coolant is just right). Probably some bug in electronics(car was parked straight).

Ah ha. Just checked and the coolant level is not very much above the 'min' mark, although it's always been like this since the car was new.

Thanks

No probs :D

Aaaahhhh electronics by Microsoft ....... just reboot and all will be ok again :D

Mine is fully topped up with the correct stuff bought from the dealers but I always get this when it is cold weather. I am so fed up with this stupid warning I am thinking of disconnecting the beeper and the bulb.

The dealers have never been any help to me on this one.

Whats the flipping point of a warning if you cant determine what the problem is!?

I am so disenchanted by my experience with Skoda that I am thinking of trading it in for something that works in cold weather without moaning at me!

Ditching a car for a warning light coming on...! Bit drastic isn't it?

Well when you add on all of the other problems I have had with it its the straw that broke the camels back! I had less expensive problems with a 1987 Polo!

Have they replaced anything?

Warning light can be attributed to a fault level sensor or coolant temp sensor.

Hey, it's prob just an software bug or something, hardly worth selling the car, you could end up buying a make that's a lot less reliable.

Dont you get a beep when temp goes below certain tempreture... as i had a single beep and flashing frosty symbol but no lights on....

Temperature warning is just the single beep and the display changes to show temperature and a flashing 'snowflake'. Flashing stops after a bit.

The annoying one is the beep you get when you run out of windscreen washer. I'd like it to just shut up and show me the little indicator, I don't really like the BEEEP thing it does when you are on the motorway making progress ;)

There are makes even less reliable than Skoda?!?!

Happened to me this mornin... Outside temp was 0 C ... Coolant level was at max.. Could not see any obvious leaks etc.... Drove for 5 mins stopping to turn engine off/on... Just about considering calling the AA then ,,hey presto it stopped!!!

Add to my dipped beam going off when i switch from main... then my cars having

a few elec issues!!

Dazz

p.s. does these get recorded by the ECU?? as my dealer seems just to read

fault codes and if this is not recorded then No fault found is the response..

It happend again this morning. Calling my dealer first thing tomorrow.
