Octavia Vrs - Oil temp too hot & Power loss

Featured Replies

Please can anyone help,

I have an Octavia Vrs and today the other half was driving down the motorway and the oil temp went to red and light came on. She has put oil in the car now so I am not sure how much oil was in the car to start with. When she came back I went for a spin and noticed that when you get up to about 50 Mph the oil temp starts to rise and in 4th Gear I seemed to loose a lot of boost, it was like driving a Metro (Put your foot down and there was no real power, felt like Turbo not kicking in).

Does anyone have any ideas of what could be the problem ?

Thanks,

Simon

Sounds very much like a failed water pump. Mine failed at 50000 miles with the same symptoms, I had the timing belt changed at the same time due to the amount of labour required to change water pump. If it is this your probably looking at a bill of at least

Does the coolant temperature guage indicate overheating?
