"New" VRS Estate

Featured Replies

MrsViv and I have been driving our estate this week end prior to a holiday in Cornwall starting next weekend.

"Even reversing is a bit swift!", she said. I just grinned.

We've done hundreds of miles just getting used to it and I'm mightily impressed with how well behaved it all is. Very grown up, in fact but capable of hitching it's skirts up and leggin' it, when you want it to. The DSG is so smooth, engine so quiet compared to the diesel I was driving and MrsVivs Citigo. On 2 reasonable trips of mainly motorway driving its averaged 41mpg, which is more than I'd expected out of the Falken tyres that were probably put on to sell it.

Made the right decision, this is fun to drive and very comfortable too.

Petrol I assume? Get a remap, they're incredible with the remapped power and fuel economy isn't hurt at all :)

Yes it's a petrol. I take it that you've remapped yours? I've come from a 110bhp diesel countryman so 200bhp is just loverly!!

What does a remap take the bhp up to and where do you notice the difference the most in driving it please?

I bought mine already mapped so hadn't spent much time with the standard one. Mine was a bespoke/live map rather than an "off the shelf one" - most of the standard ones take it to 240-250bhp but assume mine is closer to 260.

2nd and 3rd are pretty brutal - if it's not completely dry then it'll light up the ESP in both gears. It seems to be more responsive in 6th at motorway speeds too, if you're doing 70 and just nudge the throttle slightly it'll push past 80, 90 much quicker than you're expecting. Power comes from really low down the range, if you put your foot down coming out a corner in 2nd or third from barely above idle it pushes hard enough to make people swear or giggle!
