Bilstein b4 dampers? Which ones?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at soing a refresh on my Tdis suspension, and was considering getting billie b4 dampers all round, as I'll mainly be using the car for commuting- so comfort is key!

as far as I can see there are a couple of options for front and rear, and I'm struggling to understand the differences apart from price.

Does anyone have any info on whether these dampers differ in performance or application?they are all listed for my model and year of car.

Fronts BLS22-045744 or BLS22-045751

Rears BLS19-02942 or BLS19-029160 (there are another 2 listed but the links wont open to let me get the part numbers)

thanks!

What springs will you be running with them?

likely eibach pro-kit, as only want a mild drop.

thanks

Same as what im running. IIRC DT list one as standard and off road suspension and the other as sports, Could be to do with the VRS's running a different castor angle, Theres something like 3mm difference in wheelbase between normal and VRS Octavias.

interesting! May be worthy of investigation- if I can see the benefit of the shift to vrs camber it may be worth the small additional spend

thanks very much!

Im just guessing its the castor angle as I can think of anything else that would change the wheelbase by such a small amount

I ran B4s on my Elegance TDI with vRS springs, so I went for the sport suspension type and they worked pretty well together.

If you fit lowering springs, don't for get to get shorter bump stops too. I used vRS ones.

The difference in wheelbase between normal models and the vRS is probably down to the lowered ride height altering the angle of the trailing arms on the rear suspension.

You'd need the B4 Sport then.
