Fuse for switched accessories?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

First ever post so here goes - I have searched the forums for an answer but dont seem to

obtain a definative answer. Either that or I've failed the initiative test.

Can anyone tell me if fuse location 29 is switched via the ignition key and can be used to

power a dash cam?

Also please note that in the Fabia 2010 manual, fuse position 28 is labelled as being for

petrol engines only - wrong it is also controls Diesel  and if you pull it, engine management

and lots of other lovely lights come on!!

Fabia II 1.9tdi 2010 Elegance Estate.

Best regards to you all

can you not run it from rear wiper fuse (non essential if it blows)

or is location 29 vacant location (i dont have a fabia sorry)

I have no idea what number it is as I'm currently in bed but (assuming the fuse box layout is the same) the bottom left fuse is an ignition live. I use that for my front and rear dashcam.

On the mini blade part of the box I used the second from the right at the bottom. Fuse position 17, definitely a switched live and works perfect using a piggy back.

Is it easy to connect into em?

Ive got something id like to wire in properly if its easy?

Very easy. I used a piggy back fuse holder, and it was simple. I connected it to a 12v power outlet for my dash cam. Live to fuse holder and then earthed. Can be unplugged if required. I may have a picture....

I think its a piggy back fuse ive got in at the moment mate.

But i wouldnt mind it running off its own fuse, like OEM fit would do.

Obv its all hidden behinf the cover, but im ocd maybe haha

Thats what I've got. It's a spare slot so effectively it's a dedicated space for my dash cam, just not soldered in.

Yeah ive got that, or similar.

Id prefer it looking inline like the test of the fuses though? But that must be a big job?

Someone on here has done it, but I don't know who sorry. I think they unscrewed the panel and soldered the wires to the back of the fuse Block.

Yeah, I used a point behind the panel at the end of the dash at the drivers side, I might have a pic.....

Go up out the fuse box here and feed towards the edge of the dash

Remove end panel and you will see a good sized space. Note the blue connector at bottom right, this is where I earthed

Hope this helps.

I used a screw that's actually in the fuse box area.

that torx screw that is under the red wire in jonro's picture ???

@Jonro does that panel just pop off with trim tools??

Indeed malcster.

Yes, the panel just pops right out. I think there is a small cut out to place the trim tool under.

I didn't even consider using the small torx screw. Mainly because I was wanting to put a socket behind that trim panel and partly because I didn't see it.
