Ford Focus C-Max...

Featured Replies

Someone I know is looking to buy a MPV type thing, I said I believe the Focus C-Max is quite good and being a Ford should be fairly easy to get a good deal (2nd hand).

Anyone any opinions on it or maybe other make/model? Ta.

Citroen Picasso is good for what it is - a pig ugly, MPV made out of tin foil and recycled Happy Meal toys.

It is however, the comfiest car I've owned - 590 miles in 11 hours no probs, cheap to buy and cheap to run.

It was probably the best day of my life when I traded it in for the Octy!!!!!

The CMAX is a very capable vehicle, based on the Focus the CDTI (or whatever acronym it is) it quite perky too. There was a thread on here about one that battered a Fabia VRS (before race threads were banned)

I very much doubt a C-Max TDCI will "batter" a Fabia vRS

They have what, maybe 6 bhp more, yet have the aerodynamics of a block of flats...

BTW, one did try and race me in mine, and it was close, but i still managed to pull a few car lengths ahead up to 90 leptons ;)

I tried a few when I was thinking about the same type of vehicle and if it's not too big, I would go with a Zafira. It's based on the Astra I think and the GSi is a belter. The most practical of all the mpvs in my opinion - for what it's worth!

DON'T buy a c-max...... it's based on the focus, and I have focus company cars, and they are VERY bad... I've broken one at 4000miles and 4weeks old, and my replacement with 10k on the clock really feels like its done 100k!!! no lie.. it knocks bangs creaks, and feels cheap! (bloody car of the year my ****!) my mate had a picasso with 70k on that felt better than my 10k focus!

edit: the furby now has 17k on , and feels brand new!

I had one when my Golf went in for work over three days.

I might as well been driving with a PS2 controller. The driving experiance felt "digital", there was no feedback, nothing to make you feel as if you were driving a real car other than the fact you could see yourself going down the road. :thumbdwn:

It wasn't as bad as the 307 i had for a bit too, but it was souless and utterly boring.

I am not huge thrill seeker, but if I had to get up everymorning and go to work in it, I would find getting up harder...

If you only need 5 seats or less - Octy Estate is the way to go (even an older one)

IF you need 7 Seats - Zafira (well the Citroen only has 5 seats)

Mind Citroens have higher depreciation - so used will be cheaper

performance figures for the 2.0 TDCi C-MAX are damn near the same as the Fabia vRS, but out of the box, it'll probably out-handle the vRS through bends etc, which would make it difficult to keep up with

I think the Focus / Cmax is great but no personal experience.

I would consider a VW Touran 2.0 TDI Sport 140hp Nice bus !

I went for a Multipla BTW. More for the sake of my kids than anything else.

Still not convinced TBH.... its still a very bulky, tall vehicle, and as "sorted" as fords may be in the handling dept, its still no hot hatch.... put simply, how can it defy the laws of physics?

Anyway, I dont think *either* would be doing any battering ;)

The Range Rover sport would loose a Fabia VRs on most regular roads

Yes and thats 3 x the price, and has a huge engine, huge wheels and 4x4 drivetrain. Its no CMAX thats for sure

Had a nose around one of these at the local dealer. Fit and finish was equally as good as my Fabia (the ISO standard for build quality ;)) and on paper, stats are impressive for a small non-sporty diesel :D I love the understated looks too. Wonder how long before they bring out a hot ST version

Chris

We have a Mazda Premacy.....excellent build quality and toys....only a 1.8 16v petrol but really needs a good diesel as it's pretty big.

Good space...all 3 rear seat tumble forward and the front seat back folds....good boot space.

We considered a diesel Picasso but SWMBO didn't like the look. Would consider a Honda FRV with the diesel, Touran or Mazda 5.

Hi

I know the reputaion for reliability is generally good for the Focus, but also that this reputation is not reflected in the C-MAX. A poor result in various surveys seems to reflect this as well.
