Tyre/Wheel storage

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but for anyone that have winter wheels or more than one set of wheels, please, please, please if you use this style of stand check them!

Went in to my shed yesterday to find my wheels on the floor. Lucky only damage I've found is on the centre ring.

Before anyone asks, yes the wheels are under the max weight.

Bought on Amazon last year.

Needless to say I'm not overly impressed........lucky the three other stands seem to be ok.

I wonder if either the ground was not level or the wheels were biased towards where the leg has snapped off?

I currently am not using my tree as I broke one of the plastic bits that the wheels sit on.

Gizmo68, possibility I guess as I've not check the floor, but it was level when the shed was put up.

The second point, when last left they where all as dead centre as my eye could tell. But again it's possible it might not have been dead centre.

Still worth members checking theirs just incase.

Looks like I've got a few spares if you need one?

I have two of those and both have bent legs (one fell over). Next time I change over Ill probably just stack the wheels with a stiff piece of cardboard between each one.

Why not just stack the wheels directly on the shed floor? It is really not necessary to have a stand for them. The best storage is lying flat ontop of eachother in a cool, dark and dry place. I put them in bags and have them in my garage. On top of them I have a stiff cardboard, a small and handy temporary workbench for shampoo/polishing bottles, washer fluid, and other hand car related stuff.
