Its only £10 an hour eh inc loading time. Reasonable.

Would you need something with a decent spec. I pose this question, as for years I used an ancient brick to program telecomms /voice mail systems . Didn't need to be high spec,as the comms port on the system was only capable of slow speeds. Again ,something from an episode on "The Garage", where Bluetooth was used. Blue tooth dongle on cable on car using a cable to get dongle outside car. Same from household PC ( IF in a room giving line of sight to car) . i seem to remember a few years ago going on a NR course on axle counters, where all the laptops used to interrogate the systems  were ancient bricks running W95 as the comms ports were (even on this up to date kit), not exactly fast.

Not if it's just for VCDS.

I think your best bet would be an EEE PC Netbook. 

 

They run Windows XP or 7, and you can get them for around £50 on eBay now.

 

Perfect as they're more compact with a 9 or 10" screen, so ideal for using in the car

Have a look on Ebay at Dell Latitude E5500s. They are only about 50 or 60 quid and are nice solid usable PCs
