2012 Octavia vRS Blackline

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Bit of background info.

I owned a couple of years ago a 2009 Superb 170 DSG great car. Was at a time when I used to make small journeys so wasn't the best car for it.

I traded it and bought a 2012 C-Max 1.6 tdci . Good family car but dull.

So now I thought of going back to the Skoda badge.

Spoken to a dealer who has 2 VRS Blackline's DSG in stock. They are both 170 Diesel.

1 = 37k miles  Black Blackline estate very nice

1 = 50k miles white Blackline hatch

Any thoughts on these cars? Not had chance to drive them yet but had pics sent and both look great.

How do they drive? Is DSG best or would you go Manual?

Anything you can advise or any thoughts on living with them?

I do a 85 miles commute now each day on a dual carriageway so the need has changed.

Thoughts.

Thanks in advance

I love my Blackline, had from new 46k on it, no intentions of letting it go.

Great family car, great car for hooning around in too. Drives really well to me.

How a car drives is relative to what you're used to. From your last two cars don't think you'll be disappointed.

One bad side can be road noise. Drive one at usual speeds and judge yourself. As a package I can live with it.

Mines a manual, DSG's generally seem to loved by owners never driven a DSG myself.

Get a test drive, check prices and buy one now!

I love the looks but can't decide on hatch or estate???

How do you find it on fuel?

mid 40s on average. check out fuelly.com to get real world stats. great tool.

On holiday in the Highlands this simmer easily achieved 60mpg - usually low-50mpg.

I've got a white, manual estate with only 11,500 miles.

Great family car - just looking at a VRS 230 which is about to be launched.

Overall a brilliant car, I owned a white DSG estate from new for about 12 months 11k miles and didnt put a foot wrong mechanically.

The vRS is just a great car, the TDI goes well and its economical and relatively cheap to run given its performance...doesnt give up much to a stock TSI real world. Also the Blackline is one way to guarantee getting into a late vRS with a very good standard spec.

I wasnt mad on the DSG/TDI combo myself and one of the main reasons I traded it on. Think I would have liked a manual better....though strange spec ommission only the DSG equipped version came with a multi function steering wheel.

V cheap to install an OEM bluetooth mic and have the BT coded on the Amundsen nav unit, many cars you'll find will have likely had the mod.

If anyone on here bought OE62 KKO from Jewsons Oxford early last year, tell it I do miss it :-)

Totally agree had mine for 4 month and love it,I got the estate manual

I've had mine about a month now and its the best purchase I've ever made. I went for a diesel manual estate. I'm averaging around 46mpg and I don't hang about, you'll get a bit better than that on your length of run I would think, glad I went diesel. I went manual too, not enough long runs in my opinion for an auto and I love the feel of control on the manual. The final decision for me was the estate, with a little boy but more so the dog the estate was a great decision it's just so much easier. Great car chosen with help from the great members of this forum.

I purchased one of the last Blackline estates which came off the line.  It has been one of the best cars I have run - long term mpg is 52 - some commutes see 58.  A real mile muncher - and a pleasure to drive. The comment about road noise is correct - does not disturb me tho - and if it did, there are any number of tyres with a lower noise rating than the Michelin PS3's I am using at the moment.  manual or DSG?  Well I chose the manual, and have not regretted it.  The mod to activate the handsfree phone is a must!
