Has anyone been given a delivery date for the Blackline Octavia VRS?

Featured Replies

I ordered mine, in white, last Tuesday.

The dealer (Derek Slacks) were brilliant to deal with.

I'm still undecided on the black alloys against the white, but I didn't want a blue one, and the only other colour was black which would be too much with the black alloys as well.

What are people's honest opinions on the black alloys on a white VRS please?

Cheers,

Si.

Christ mate. I bet your a riot at party's. I'm closer to 40 than 30 and don't appreciate being referred to as a kid, simply because I'm looking forward to getting my Blackline. In my opinion, kids d

Oh god. I'm really not sure on those wheels......

Might end up getting them powder coated to another colour at a later date? Or if I phone the dealer would I be able to get normal silver alloys on instead?

I would be supprised if you have a delivery date before mid September as they are only making 500 of the blackline and they are due to be released to the UK from the 1st of Septemeber. Based on that i would say at least 3-4 weeks from then.

If they are similar to the last vRS Limited Edition they were all built, shipped over (had the leather seats and badging added) and stored in the UK, but then they were all the same colour with no optional extra's.

It wouldn't suprise me if they plan on a similar approach with the Blackline which would mean all 500 are in the UK (in a mix of the three available colours) ready for immediate delivery from the 1st September.

I very much doubt that these are built to order - unless it is possible to add factory fit options.

I'm thinking I should have just asked if I could have had standard silver alloys on when I signed up!

Gah!!!

Maybe I will end up learning to love the black alloys when I see them in the flesh?

Demand for black Neptunes is higher than the silver ones.

If after delivery you decide you don't like them there will be a million and one vRS owners on here who will gladly swap!

black wheels on a white VRS look spot on you will love them suit white more than any other colour IMHO

Cheers guys. I was really up for the black alloys last week, now I'm getting cold feet the more I look at photos posted. Don't know what to do for the best really!

I have a feeling when I see my car sat there all clean and shiny I will be ok again!

If they gave the option of gun metal, I'd be all over that like a rash, but the gloss black isn't my cup of tea. Ok on a white car though

Personally I'm not a lover of black wheels at all. I'd have gone for standard silver. If I want black wheels, I'll just not wash the brake dust off the ones I've got! For me, you just can't see the design and features of alloy wheels that are painted black.

Mike

I'm probably 90% with you on that Mike - but COULD I have asked for a Blackline with silver alloys? I'll never know now. I'm wondering 1 week after signing up whether it's worth a phone call to the dealer?

I have just emailed the dealer asking whether I could have silver alloys.......

Hopefully get a reply tomorrow.

I guess speccing the Blackline with silver wheels kind of defeats the object!

Nope. Blackline comes with full leather, sat nav, reversing sensors, and digital radio along with those black alloys.

So there is more to the car than just black wheels!

I was suggesting it's name was directly related to the colour of the wheels - hence the 'black' in Blackline.

May be they should do one with silver Neptunes and call it the Silverline!?

Maybe they should. But just because it has black alloys doesn't mean I have to like them. I was offered the higher spec of the Blackline for no extra money. I would have been daft to not take it.

So making sarky comments about me choosing the Blackline model doesn't offer constructive advice to the fact im not a lover of black alloys and am looking at options to rectify it.

That one in the thread you have been linked to is mine, I had a white VRS with silver wheels adn changed to a white VRS with gloss black wheels with the black alcantara interior etc to have a black and white theme going on, and I must admit when I first collected the car I was slightly dubious, I loved the car but just wasnt 100% on the wheels, but now I have had it a couple of months and now I am liviving with it, they are great, I saw my old one on the dealer the other day with the silver wheels and my new one looks so much better, just gives it that slightly more aggresive look with extra road prescence, my hesitation was that I am normally such a 'run of the mill' person that going black would be out of the ordinary for me but am happy with it now, overall I love it!

If I had one criticism it would be that a dark anthracite would be slightly better, but still, it still looks good and it bacuse it looks a bit different from a normal VRS it gets such great comments, I was parked outside a shop the other day and the wife was waiting inside and two blokes stopped and just talked about it for a few mins whilst she was waiting, the window was down and they were saying how awesome it looked etc!!! So I am generally pleased with it and love the car, and being diesel getting 52mpg on a run just gives, looks comfort, performance etc etc!!!

I guess the disadvantage with gloss black alloys is the same as with black cars, they very quickly show the dirt / brake dust and turn matt black / grey?

Silver is able to hide a few more flaws than black but when clean though I agree they look very smart.

The wheels get dusty but not particularly dirty, as always with anything car wise, keep on top of it and do it properly they will be fine, mine have rarely looked dirty, except today as its been ****ing down with rain and I have been through some deep mud puddles on a farm :-)

Phoned the dealer yesterday - silver alloys are NOT an option to me. Nevermind.

Interestingly though, when I pushed him on some sort of expected delivery date he said that these cars are being done in the UK?

He said the 500 cars are just getting retro-fitted with all the various upgraded items - does that sound right?

Yes, this sounds correct Thehulkster. This is what Skoda did with the previous LE a few years ago - it also explains why you can't specify any other factory options as the cars are already here and built.

I reckon that once you get the car you'll love the wheels!!

So basically - the interiors will be replaced, the reversing sensors fitted, the satnav/climate/digital radio installed and the wheels swapped over to black AFTER the original Octavia has been built?

Sounds madness to me - and a recipe for poor workmanship rearing its ugly head. I'm not to happy about hearing this.
