Octavia vRS Xtreme Alloys Cleans

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Do I need to use an acid free cleaner on these?

Thanks in advance.

Acid Free Cleaners are always better

Have a look here and take your choice:

We all have our favourites Mine is WW Hot Wheels as a Iron remover and Power Maxed Acid Free Wheel Cleaner ...Primarily on Clients' cars

So have a good read and choose one..Most do a good job

Golden rule...Wash them regularly...at least weekly...Apply a good sealant and you will rarely need an Alloy Wheel cleaner

Just be careful though, acid free normally means caustic which is just as destructive. PH neutral is a good phrase to look out for.

As Chris says, use a decent wheel sealant and you'll only need normal shampoo to clean. I use wheel cleaner once every couple of months if that.

Just obtained a set of used alloys I'm gonna use for winters, is CC Platinum, still the best choice?

Power maxed wheel cleaner is very good stuff, I was gonna do a few pics of before and after when I've cleaned the above up.

Would you wash your cars paintwork in acid?

All alloys (unless they are bare polished alloy) have a clear coat lacquer on them... just like the paintwork, so treat them the same.

Prevention is always the answer though so a decent sealant / wax (FK1000P is my choice) will make cleaning them so much easier.

CC Platinum is one of the Ceramic type sealants that I have used

There are others ...but its so easy to use...its one I thoroughly recommend

I'll probably get that one thanks Chris, do you know the best places to get it from as I might grab a few other bits at the same time.

Would you bother with 2 coats?
