Key fob help

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just put a new battery into my key fob after it had been dead for a few days.  The red light comes on, on the fob, when I press the lock/unlock buttons but it dose not open/close the locking.  When I put the key in the lock I can open/close the doors ok., been doing this for last few days.

Does the fob need some form of "reprogramming"?  If so can I do it myself in some way?  1.2, 1013 Fabia.

Sorry it's not a 2013, its 2003 Fabia.

Do you have another spare key, even just the blade?

If you have just the one key I know a way to program it, just send me a pm

I have a second key that works, but I'd like to get this one operational.

Printed and followed instructions.

Put working key in ignition and switched on.

Closed door with non working key and pressed unlock once, no horn sound.

Still I waited for 6 sec then pressed unlock once.

Did not work.

Tried this 3 or four times, no joy.

What am I doing wrong?

Put they key on the ignition and switch it on, but don't start the car

Step out and use the key you want to program to put in the door lock barrel and twist to lock. Hold it in the twisted position and press the lock button etc

I appreciated the advice  hutchysrs50 and your efforts.

I've tried all sorts of combinations and no joy. it could be the electronics in the old key are goosed, even if a red light shows when I press the lock/unlock buttons. it is 12 years old.

I will use the spare that works and can always go back to manually opening the doors if I lose the working key.

Ta for all the effort much appreciated.

A new "arse end" for the non-worky one is around £20-£30 on eBay.

Your alarm must be working properly for the programming to work. Check fuse 60.

Hello Freedom,

I had the exact same problem,("The red light comes on, on the fob, when I press the lock/unlock buttons but it dose not open/close the locking.").

My solution was to take key apart, gently ease up the circuit board and remove, underneath you will see the underside of the buttons, push them gently (with a screwdriver or some other implement) back up against the hard plastic outer covering of the key to stretch and loosen it a bit, it goes hardish with age, replace circuit board, put key back together and hopefully it will work for you again, mine did,
