How to removed rear boot struct braces?

Featured Replies

I need to replaced the whole carpet in the boot and I can't get the bleeding rear struts out. I think like many have experienced the screw just turns and turns. However I don't want to drill through them just to get them out has anyone got any ideas on how to get these little sods out?

I have just removed them from a 2005 car and they thankfully just unbolted.  Not sure what do when the captive nut breaks inside the chassis bit.  :(

See the side ones came out ok which sits above the arch, but the ones behind the seats are being stubborn.... Was hoping it would be easy but as usual, things never are!

Anyone got any tips? Just spinning and spinning.

Besides grinding them off, there aren't many options!

You using hand tools ? Tried a battery gun or air tool ? We use them at work and if the captive nut snaps off providing the bolt ain't crossed we chuck the gun in reverse and put a tad bit of pressure on the bolt either pull down or up and then pull the trigger and boom out comes the bolt, even if you can get a little pressure underneath the bolt as you use the gun it will zip straight out, to reinstall I would cut a small hole in the bar big enough to get a new nut and spanner in so you can bolt them back in, I want some of these for my estate
