Dash info problem

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just had front disk and pads replaced (waiting on rear calipers to do rears) and an oil and filter change.

Now the average mpg and mph are stuck at a value and not changing.

Any ideas??

Dave

Does it have a little 1 or 2 next to the mph\mpg?

It has a 2. The other mpg has no 1 or 2 and it changes every second or so but the other one has been stuck at 47.5 for days. The avg speed has been at 31 mph for days too.

Push the button on the bottom of the right hand stalk et voila.

The mechanic also tried to reset the service message but couldn't do it from the dash or by plugging a gadget in.

I have tried the other settings too. No proper average speed or mpg.

Disconnect the battery for half an hour and see if that sorts it.

That's worth a try. I thought maybe a sensor not reconnected or something. I would normally do the brakes and service myself but garage is full of stuff at the moment so got my trusty mechanic to do it. Just wondered if it was something simple. Away for a couple of days up north but will try disconnecting the battery when we get home.

I have found the answer for this. As you use the switch on the end of the wiper stalk to cycle through the different displays (mpg, range, etc.), the proper average mpg was not showing. There was an mpg without a number above it then the next click of the switch went on to mpg with a small 2 above it. I had always just cycled through the displays to get the correct mpg with the small 1 above it but it just didn't show when cycling through.

The answer to fix this is to get the mpg with the 2 above it to display then click the "ok/reset" button on the underside of the wiper stalk to change to the displays with the 1 above them. Problem solved.

Wich is exactly what trundlenut said:

Glad you sorted it though.

As for the service reset, if it’s not possible from the dash (look in the manual) then someone with VCDS can reset it for you.

Is it possible to reset the service indicator with a bluetooth adapter and the Torque app??

not sure if its the same on your model but on my 2007 vrs you reset the service indicator using the clock adjust button actually on the dials (little stick thing that pokes through)

Process was something like press it in and hold, then turn it to the right then turn ignition on and hold it...

this video is a better idea of how to do it
