Which oil for a 2007 L&K 2litre TDI

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

This is my first proper post on here and I'm sorry if it's been asked before ... After reading all the posts I've happily discovered my car does not have the dreaded DPF so I don't require the 507 spec oil but I'm now lost as to what oil spec or grade I do need to use... from looking I it looks like I'd be be best with 505.1 but could I use any good quality 5/30 or 5/40 oil such as Magnatec or if I can find 507 at a good price would I be as well sticking this in .... oil and filter will be changed on a fixed mileage regime and not a flexi one.

Regards

Peter

Look at opie oils site put in your car details and it will tell what oil you need, from cheap to expensive.

For under £30 for 5 litres from eBay or TPS I'd just stick with the 507 regardless.

Hi Guys,

I found the link to Opie Oils on here and the prices even for 507 spec are pretty reasonable, I've a TPS branch not to far away from me so I'll give them a try for price next time I'm passing .... my local motor factors is doing a 5 litre container of oil to 507 spec, which is printed on large font on the container, for £25 but it's not a brand I've ever seen before so I may even look into that and stuck to the 507 spec.

I know I can buy many brand own brand fully synthetic oils from around £20 but for the sake of around another £10 I'd rather stick to something I know won't damage anything rather than get lumbered with expensive repairs.

Peter

I but my oil from here.

£28.99 for OEM 507.00 spec 5w30 posted is a great deal in my opinion.

Hi Guys,

Thanks a million for the answers on the oil, I must admith the two posts for the Quantum and Shel Helix are a bargain and I think I'll look into purchasing some of those.
