High pitch squeal under full boost

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble with a high pitched squeal that occurs under full boost from 2500rpm onwards. The squeal doesn't get any louder as the Revs get higher. I've smoke tested the car today and there are no leaks in any breather or turbo pipes etc.

The problem started after I fitted a BAM inlet to suit a single pass forge intercooler, I used new gaskets for the TB and inlet when refitting.

It's proving pretty hard to diagnose because it doesn't do it on a stand still the car needs to be in motion.

Anyone had a similar issue ?

Mine does it because the exhaust manifold is cracked but it could also be down to a dying turbo, a leaky gasket etc..

Hi

I've replaced the turbo with a KO3s hybrid, I changed the manifold and turbo gasket while I was there. The noise does seem to be coming from the manifold area tho.

Ill upload a video the squeal is very odd.

Thats my car. Mines been like it for 2.5 years now. At first i thought it may of been the turbo dying and planned to replace it when it died but it never did. When i replaced my TIP for an oversized jobby the turbo had zero play and the fins were solid. Car always makes requested boost & power. Was only recently while i was under it i spotted the cracked manifold. I tried some of that chemical metal putty and although the putty only lasted 15mins with the heat the squeal had gone.. I kind of missed it. I have grown to live with it lol
