Reversing Camera

Featured Replies

Have just changed radio on my 2110 from Bolero to Amundsen+, very happy but would like to fit reversing camera. Have just seen this on Ebay, item 400803708533 and was wondering if would fit and work ? On back of radio there is a spare electrical socket above aerial connections.

Not without some kind of an adaptor. That camera outputs a composite NTSC signal but the headunit expects RGB.

It'll also look odd unless you have LED licence plate lights too.

What type of reversing camera would you recommend . I read some where on forum people fitting Audi A1 camera , are they compatible as standard.

A very good question, I'm trying to figure out the best value way of adding it myself.

I've seen people use tiguan camera's and modify the bootlid, others have opted for similar things to what you posted with either adaptor boxes or aftermarket units. I think there is also a link to a €99 camera which fits but I can't remember the details.

You can also get low and high line kits where the guide lines stay still or move. The latter is quite expensive I believe.

I'd have a search in the octavia forums and see what you can find!

Fitting the Tiguan kit involves enlarging the boot handle opening by quite a bit, I've just done it. I did it with an angle grinder, hacksaw blade, and metal file and got there in the end, it was a bit scary though.

The hardest part for me was removing all the panels especially when I had to do it twice because it all didn't work

It turned out to be a faulty cable between the camera and the Columbus but the Chinese seller was very good and sent me a new one. See the thread in the Superb II forum.

Thanks for all replies but I am still no father forward. I now understand that the one's that I have seen n Ebay are not compatible with the Amundsen radio satnav that I have installed . I have looked on the Octavia section of site but I can-not find information regarding reversing camera to use with my radio. I do not want to cut holes in no plate light to fit camera just a camera to replace one of no plate lights which will work with the radio I have without fitting extra electrical relays etc.

Did you try a search in the octavia forum? An example thread I found was: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/294749-reverse-camera-fitted/

Plenty of others mention the same kufatec interface https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/volkswagen/multivan-transporter/t5-until-2009/rear-view-camera-universal-interface-audi-vw3 and various NTSC cameras. There are cheaper interfaces out there to do the CVBS to RGB conversion although you might find quality suffers.

I would expect the camera you initially posted to work with the above kit.

edit:

Another probably more useful thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/279218-reversing-camera-on-amundsen-plus/

What next- signs saying "DANGER CAMERA REVERSING" and fit camera with a bleeper :nerd:
