Aftermarket stereo fit

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just got a new stereo and started fitting yesterday but im a bit stuck, ive swapped the power wires and ive got the trim piece on order so all thats ok.

I just physically cant get all the wires behind the unit because of the weird black plastic cage skoda has fitted, anyone got any hints and tips?

Cheers

Cut the plastic cage. That's what I had to do because my rca cables exited directly where that plastic bit was so I cut it out.

+1 for cutting it out

Oh the joys! I will start on that later, stupid bloody design!

I remember fitting my after market head unit. I had to cut that bit out too!

While it would have forced in I wasn't keen on the idea of squashing the wires at the back and risking damage.

About which cage you are talking about?

The black plastic cage that the standard stereo and cubby hole fit into.

Cut this part.

Oh, that one...ok...that makes sense now.

Cut this part.

I left that bit circled it has that little hole bit that houses the little rubber stop on the back of your head unit, Ijust cut off the supporting brackets on what ever side I needed too.

I left centre bit too, cut the bit on the right out (not in the picture)

That plastic thing doesn't bother me at all. I've slipped the cables and pushed the HU. It's a <1 minute job. 30 minutes ago I just re-did this, because, for some reasons, Pioneer decided that's better to have the USB and AUX on the backside...arrghh..

Later edit: so I did this:
