Emission Issues on Skoda Fabia

Featured Replies

Dear Briskodians

I have a Skoda Fabia 1.4 Petrol.

It has done around 88,000 Miles and it is a May 2003 model.

During my MOT this year, it has failed on the Emission tests.

It was with the garage guys for close to 10 days and now they are telling me that the ECU is having problem and it may have to be changed. The cost of this getting fixed is going to be more than £1000.

they changed the Lambda sensor, checked throttle body and sensors and most of the fuel related parts and they could not bring the emissions down.

I am wondering if this is really an issue on Skoda vehicles.

Has anybody come across such issues? Do i have to write off my car now? I had this car for around 6 years and it never had any big issues like this?

Do you think a remapping of ECU will help?

Many thanks for your suggestions.

warm regards

NM

What engine code does the car have? (Three-letter code specifying the exact engine type)

Which aspect(s) of the emissions is it failing on? CO? HydroCarbons? Lambda?

Did the garage guys somehow decide that the catalytic converter(s) is OK?

I took my car to a Skoda dealer and they changed the Lambda sensor on Bank2 and it passed emission tests and no problem with the MOT.

I guess this local garage was trying to do a rip off.

Thanks a lot.
