We have an April 2015 supplied Fabia III 1.2 SEL 90ps. When the car restarts after a stop/start event the gearbox is really difficult to get into 1st. Has anyone else had this issue? It's as if it needs a double de-clutch to get the gears lined up again.

Hi surfymac I have a similar car to yourself and done 3500 miles Have not had the same problem but have sometimes had to once or twice press the clutch a second time to get into reverse. When you say a stop/start event do you mean the engine stalls or simply end of journey stop and the start at next journey. Joe

Thats not unusual mate. Quite a few vag cars do that.

If you still cant getit in, put it in first, move forward a little, and try reverse again. It should slot in nicely.

Thanks chaps. It occurs when stopping in traffic, shifting to neutral and the engine stops. On restart, when depressing the clutch, it's then difficult to get it into 1st.

 

I had a 2011 Yeti and had no issue with the gearbox however the Fabia III is a pain due to this gearbox issue. Kinda sounds like an issue with VAG gearboxes though?

Be sure that the Master Tech at the Dealership you have check it out does a Report for Skoda UK & Skoda CZ, and also raise a case yourself with Skoda UK Customer Services or down the line as others have issues they will be saying either,

 'A'  We have never heard of that before', 

or

'B'  'They all do that',

 sometimes one employee will use one Skoda / Volkswagen Group trained employee Phrase 'A' and another will use 'B'
