Delivery time after build

Featured Replies

Hello guys

Just wondering what your experiences of delivery times are? Getting my first ever brand new car - a gorgeous 1.2 110bhp SE L hatch in Race Blue with Black colour option. The build week is 21st September. Any ideas how long it takes to get to the dealer after this?

Also has anyone got Hill Hold Control on a manual? Didn't add it but now thinking that's a mistake.

Thanks!

Hi pal,

I ordered my car 10th June - nothing happened for ages......

On Monday my dealer rings me up and says it's being trained over to port

Tuesday it's arrived in UK waiting to clear customs

Yesterday I receive an email saying its at my dealers ready for collection.

pretty quick factory - dealer turnover in my experience.

shame i cant actually pick it up until October but there we go....

I ordered my car on the 8th July build week being the 24th Aug.

I had an update yesterday to say its been built and on it's way to the UK.

With this info they said the car should be available last week of Sept that being 5 weeks from build week.

In relation to the Hill Hold Control I am unsure as I am getting a DSG but as your build week is the 21st Sept you could ask your dealer to add this on.

I made changes after order with no issues.

Thanks guys!

Good to know!

Andrew

Quite honestly, I have hardly ever felt the hill assist function helping me out at all, that is with a new Polo 1.2TSI 110 SEL, if you are used to driving and taking off on a slope, I'd imagine you would be the same, with a car with an old school mechanical handbrake, I think that hill assist is just a gimmick. In the cars that have a horrible electric handbrake, it has it uses if you are unfortunate enough to only have two legs (I have a car that has a (horrible) electric handbrake!), though probably now that VAG has included the ability to just drive away with the electric handbrake still "on" , it is not required although the cars with electric handbrake can get hill hold.

Thanks :)

Looks like a long wait between build and delivery 1 - 3 weeks according to the dealer. Been waiting ages for the bloody thing!

Just annoys me that there is no one touch driver windows and rear electric windows as standard on the SE L

I've just noticed that your Fabia is going to be in race blue, my wife had a lot of trouble picking a colour for her Polo SEL, so unfortunately settled, yet again for Silver!!  VW need a kick up the bottom for the way they limit their colour choices, and for the crazy combinations of "two tones" they do Audi A1 sportbacks in!!

I have hill assist on my manual Scout. Like your good self I thought it was a gimmick at first. 5 years later ? No way. If I couldn't spec if on a new car I would be miffed.

Would I miss it ? Definitely.

I wonder if hill assist cars sell well in the Netherlands....?

......or Norfolk ;)

I drove up an incline in the Netherlands, up near Germany in Limburg provence heading for Intercar - maybe that is the only one!

Norfolk has lots of bits of flint around, tyres don't like that!

Well it's too late for me now. Going to have to rely on good old handbrake and clutch control. Spoilt with my semi-auto Smart... It's a lazy car to drive (like a go kart) but my Fabia will be one heck of an upgrade! Apparently it will be 1 - 3 weeks after build (it's being built next week!) for delivery. Due to the colour option I have already been waiting 8 weeks for the build. Can't wait to take delivery... Hoping it's 1 week rather than 3!!

I would reckon to expect 3 weeks as a minimum after build, it has to be moved via train to Emden in Germany where it'll sit at port until a berth is available on a transporter ship over to the UK. Once it's in the UK it should be about a week to reach the dealer.

Blimey... Looks like I need to continue the patience! If only they were like Nissan and had a UK factory!!

Signing the finance docs for my car on Saturday. Any experience on how long it takes to clear?

Dealer says it can take up to 28 days to receive the money and they won't release the car until the full car payment has been received from the finance company!

That's usually done straight away, I signed mine on the Thursday then picked it up Saturday.

I have always singed for the finance the same day i pick the car up as the finance should be in place

Cheers guys, obviously some dealers are more obsessed with the dough being in their account than others!

Reuters is reporting that the local newspaper where the factory is located has been told that Saturday production shifts will be cancelled from New Year.  There are conflicting reports about how much (if any) production is being cut.

Wonder if this will affect time it takes to get a production slot

I'd guess that the chopping of the Saturday shift is just a way to trim costs, and Saturday shifts will become a premium rate O/T shift as and when needed, VAG is not going to cut its nose to spite its face, common/commercial sense will prevail.

when I had our skodas they did the preliminary approval for the finance at time of order, that then locks in the current offer eg 0% or free servicing, then the final paperwork is signed on the day you drive it away

are they using VAG finance or a third party?

sound a bit fishy to me or they have a cash flow issue
