Hi,

New member here. I am currently the owner of a 2008 Fabia 1.4 tdi pd 80bhp. I have had it now for over three and a half years and it,s been a fantastic car and never gave me any hassle. I have recently purchased another car ( vw golf plus 1.9 tdi 105 ) which I purchased purely as it was going at a very good price and it was in fantastic condition. I do miss the power of a 1.9 tdi as I used to have an Octavia so after after a long time beating myself up I dread to say I am going to have to let the Fabia go.

Would a dealer be a better option than eBay?

Thanks - john

Bit of a sneaky for sale post is it not?

Hi John,

Your first post, too, I've edited it slightly.

If we re-phrase the question as should I sell via ebay or a dealer...

Workout what a dealer will offer you, then try one of the online buying sites. Or ebay, now work out which one will give you the most, apply some thought as to the time and hassle. That is if a day of your time is lost to tyre kicker and you work for yourself, was that lost day income worth it.

There is risk with any sale, each buyer will factor that into the price offered, regardless who and where. I've always sold to dealers in the partex dance and been aware I'm paying for the convenience of not having to get a taxi to the dealer of my next car...

Hi Colin, thank for your reply. Do you think the amount I am looking for is reasonable considering the age & mileage?. Thanks - john

No idea as to value, not got a copy of parkers in front of me today.

I'd use autotrader/ebay to check similar then adjust for mileage if you were selling it of course...

I will certainly look on the autotrader website, I,v covered 12,000 miles in three and a half years in my Fabia so going by that I don't,really warrant a having a diesel car and I was even contemplating a citigo. As always I will end up going with my gut instincts but having never owned a petrol old habits are hard to crack. Thanks for your replies as I do appreciate it. Thanks - john
