Rattle in drivers door

Featured Replies

Had a rattle that sounded like driver's door. Actually it was the seat height adjustment lever rattling against the seat plastics. Sorted out with a thick rubber ring around the lever. Took some time to figure out though

My O3 was rattle-free during the first 70k kms.

Then the window switch started to rattle (could be stopped by knee).

I removed the switch and applied some PTFE tape. Switch rattled in it's housing and housing rattled in door card. Now it's stiff and quiet.

Second one: music related rattle, started somewhere between 70-80k kms.

At 90k kms was really bad, 1/3 volume was enough to start it.

Source: door controller PCB rattle in it's housing, fixed with loom tape.

Stupid design as the controller mounted on a big plastic service cover which is pumped by the bass (I also have Canton).

Rattling definitely stopped after fix. Now I can listen to music as loud as I want. :)

I still have a third one which appears only on bumpy roads. Not loud but annoying.

I thought this noise was also the door controller but the answer is no. :(

When I test-drove the car with removed door card the noise was still there so this must be something in the door.

It seems that my door panel will come off again... :S

Hi there, I don't suppose you could re-upload the photos here and / or summarise how you did it? I'm going to attempt this myself over the next few days!

Depends if you'll keep posting a full stop in a bunch of random posts from a decade ago?

There are easier ways to save a post without spamming...

Reviving a post is fine, but it's rather annoying to have the first page of the Octavia III page full of random puncuation marks.

Sorry, I had no idea that would happen.

I needed to PM someone and this board doesn't let you do so until you make 20 posts.

@aki78 can you PM me please

So, rather than pi55 people off by making non posts on ancient threads to get your count up, go back to the hello section and say hi to some fellow new members. Or float over to the social zones where you chit chat about life the universe and the number 42 until you get you pm access enabled.

I've already apologised and explained that I didn't realise that would happen. I don't use internet forums and am a bit surprised at the slightly draconian response towards a simple mistake.

Again, sorry.

May I suggest you have a read of the rules that you agreed to when you joined.

Of course a reply to a 11yr old thread would bump it back to the top.

The action taken was actually quite tame, 18 pointless posts simply to boost your post count would usually have won you an instant ban (as a spammer)

I wouldn’t say it’s draconian at all. I’d argue it’s a pretty kind and understanding response to a clear lack of common sense. I’m sure many people on here haven’t read the T&Cs, but they’ve got on just fine over the years…

As has been suggested, if you need to get your count up, at least make an effort to use words.

I’ve only been on the forum under this account for a year or so. Everyone is very friendly and the site is well run, maintained and populated. As with all communities though, if someone comes in and starts being silly, the response will be appropriate.

If you were sat in a group and needed to make five contributions in order to ask a question, if you put your hand up and down five times in a row, surely the response would be similar to this? The twenty post count is to protect members from spam, and keep the community thriving. Think more of twenty contributions, rather than comments.

Also, the member you tagged hasn’t been online since 2025.
