Car radio has me stumped

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Not totally sure this is the best forum to post this on but it's for my Mk1 Octavia vRS.

I'm fitting a new car stereo, it's a replacement for the Symphony one with a CD changer as it'd be nice to stream spotify while I'm driving.

I've tried fitting it two ways, neither of which have worked, the first is with the wiring harness being red to red, yellow to yellow as standard, the second is red to yellow and yellow to red.

The only way the unit seems to get power is by touching the two wires together (as in red to red and yellow to yellow) touching and then it powers.

I've checked the fuses and they're fine, I'm totally stumped.

Any ideas at all?

Thanks in advance.

What make and model is the stereo that you are attempting to install?, does it come with an ISO loom already fitted or are you using an adapter lead?.

Not sure if this is any use what so ever but always nice to get an idea of how a radio is installed (other makes and such).

Hi guys, think it's probably the harness on the radio's side as the original one still turns on, it's a Kenwood one, going to order another harness and see what happens! Cheers :)
