Flat tyre

Featured Replies

Mrs pinched my car yesterday. I'm currently laid up with a bad back for a week so didn't mind. She gets back and says there's a warning light on the dash. It was the flat tyre light. I had a look at all four corners and couldn't spot an obvious flat. Got my pressure gauge out and a rear was down to 10psi. Got my jack out and raised the back, sure enough there's a screw bang in the middle.

Swapped the wheel for the full size spare I spec'd, my mates plugging it for free at work so bit of a result there. Was worried I'd have to buy a new tyre!

I can see why these flat tyre sensors are now factory fit in all cars :-)

"I'm currently laid up with a bad back for a week" --&-- "Got my jack out and raised the back"

Forty years and many excruciating episodes have taught me to be extremely careful! Keep moving and taking gentle excercise but down on hands and knees jacking a car isn't gentle - anything that involves a bent back and turning at the same time ....arrrghh!

My wife can detect a problem with tyre pressure - the clue is in the funny flapping noise you hear as you drive along shredding the tyre as you go :notme:

I was bending from the legs with a straight back, I've got a good sized jack so wasn't too bad. I was also drugged up with some good prescription pills ha ha.

Annoying thing about my back going was that although I box, weight lift and play football, I did my back in reaching for a t shirt ha ha.

Tell me about it!! I've never popped a disc through lifting or moving anything heavy - it was always been first thing in the morning putting socks on, picking the soap up in the shower, bending to tie my shoes etc. etc.

Painkillers helped me do more damage to myself. The good news for me was when I got to about 55yrs it was nowhere near as bad coz the discs become fibrous and don't pop anymore.

Not so bad if it's just muscular but anyway sympathy from a fellow sufferer :)

Got the repaired tyre back on and reset the sensor. All is well!
