Insurance - Any Mods - But

Featured Replies

Hullo

I gave good old Liverpool Victoria a ring this evening, and after explaining the ins and outs of chipping to the young lady on the phone (i.e not increasing the cc like she kept bloody saying.) she finally got the grasp of the Jabba treatment.

I finally got a "all mods" quote of

I wouldnt say that was an unreasonable quote.

What about wheels and suspension mods - does that increase the premium?

Nothing, Matt - absolutely everything, but they suggest you take photos & keep receipts of physical mods, and recipts of invisible mods like chipping.

Think I'll be giving them a call!

Cant believe they dont charge extra for mods! Are they a bit green around the gills or something?

I think they've just quoted me for an "all mods" policy - I'm fairly sure they would not have quoted me

LiverpoolVictoria told me they used to charge a nominal extra premium for mods but discontinued that recently. Their standard fully comprehensive policy really does not have any restrictions on modifications nor does it require you to notify the company of any you make. That said, a change in engine size will affect the premium. Just believe it!

I could be insured on an Octy RS for less than that... :(

Stimps , I agree with that , but not a Jabba'd one you wouldn't .........it does seem to make a lot of difference to certain insurance companies .............you mention mods or chips and they don't want to know ...............even at my advanced age :D several insurance companies wouldn't insure me with a chip/remap .

The sad smilie was from me realising that at the ripe old age of 29, i could probably afford the insurance for an octy vRS...

Affording the vRS is another matter, however.... ;)

Oh to be 29 again :(

The sad smilie is for realising I will never be 29 again .............but hey I was bald at 29 and I still am , so things don't change :D

*strokes his number 1 haircut * :D

Jas,

seems quite a good quote......I was quoted

Well, as it happens Eagle Star said they wouldn't quote for a chip (that they said was OK) until I was 25 - so perhaps a late Jan / early Feb appointment is better - but don't count me out yet.

As a last resort I'm thinking of consolidating my 8.9% loan and get another thru Tesco, which will do 6.9% - would lower my payments (for a few extra months) and give me a few hundred

And extend the period you're handing money over for how many years?

Another 8 to 10 months, I think. But at

Or find yourself a nice 0%APR for 6 months credit card...then another, then another :D

i found l&v cheaper mainly because i am a member of the CSMA (civil service motoring association, my mum was a civil servant) and you get a SUBSTANTIAL discount :)

Geoff - I'd like to avoid getting another credit card - I'm a bit wary of just having the one, TBH.

After a bit of maths last night, I think some loan fiddling will be needed to pay for eveything. Who knows of any other engine mod friendly insurers?

Liverpool Victoria get 'NUFF RESPECT' in my books:cheers:!!! Just got a quote for the Black Octy vRS I've bought (1st reg 26/07/02, 32K miles,

Adrian - feign stupidity on the exhaust thing if I were you - they sound damn close enough to me.

Matt - Glad to see that my little visit to Liverpool Victoria has helped / will help you.

One thing I didn't check was all the excesses - I may give them a bell and see if they can pump up the excesses and lower the premiums? (
