looking for the rear bumper trim , the bit of black plastic that goes under the rear bumper on a hatchback se octavia as mine has been damaged (before i got the car) does anyone know of an online parts manual or anything like that ?

Think you might want to look at part 5E5807521   but there are a few variants (vrs and tow bar, plus reversing sensors being different) by the look of it so go careful...

If you download the bodywork manual from http://www.fileshare.ro/e31335605 - page 211 onwards explains about removing the rear bumper and under the RS section this spoiler/rear scuttle section
