I have a small problem with the ship, does one three months went up a hill mientra the fan connect fell, and the temperature rose to (100C) never reached the red zone, I remove the cable connecting the fan, maximum speed boot and leave until low temp.

this after climbing a hill 60km / h the temperature rose again as a (90C). refriguerante change but the expansion tank and the cap. My tank was old and as agritato by time.

They not again pass temperature rise. in daily route 60 km / h max short journeys home to work 10 km - 20 km to school work - school to house 15 km (no hill). All well until that point.

Here comes trouble.

Friday 18 / Sept / 2015

I will make a vaije to the beach, it is 70 km from the city

refriguerante verified, oil (the September 1 will change), brake fluid, so good.

when I go up a small hill, back up the temperature in half, take it up the temperature becomes lower, when I take the highway a speed of 80 km / h the temperature returns up to nearly 110C, but when will take the ride to stop the tem is in the middle. accelerated again later 3km 80km slow temperature rises to 110 but less than 10 seconds drops to 90C.

Something that when you ascended the speed at 100km range needle drop was shorter, I always kept at 80 km

When I came home i thought it was the butt. Fill the tank expansión and accelerated 3000rpm but not out bubbles . as already i had a temperatura of 90c tiny bubbles  came out every  20 or 30 seconds

direct fans.

without thermostat.

refriguerante 50/50

Google translator is not too good.

I think the cooling system has not enough coolant and there is an air pocket right under the coolant temperature sensor.

Next time write in English first then in Spanish below like I did here.

I have a small problem with the ship, three months went up a hill but fell connector range, and the temperature was raised to (110) never reached the red zone, I immediately stations connect the fan and wait until the low temperature to 70C.

After that I went up a hill to 60 kmh the temperature rose again as (90) and buy .cambie coolant expansion tank cap. My tank was old and cracked by time.

After the change will not happen again returned to temperature rise. My daily route is about 45 km away short journeys
A) 10 km home to work
B )20 km to the university work
C) University home 15 km (no hill).
All well until that point my car always marked 70th.

I'll make a trip to the beach, which is 70 km from the city.
I check coolant, oil (oil filter was changed 09/01/15), brake fluid, so good.
On the way to the beach up a small hill, again levarse the temperature at 90 ° C in low temperature level 70, when I take the road a speed of 80 km / h, the temperature rises to 110, but when I'm making the right to stop me (I see that the temperature mark 90 in less than 20 second under the tempera) I still do not stop 10 kilometers later the temperature slowly rises to 110, but less than 10 seconds drops to 90C.

Note when the speed up to 100 km / h range needle drop was shorter, try going at 80km / h stable.

When I got home thinking it was the butt. Fill the expansion tank completely to see if the speed at 3000rpm out any bubble (nothing came). When the car took out a temperature of 90 small bubble like doing coke out every 20 or 30 seconds out 10 bubbles.

Right now when I go on making the daily commute Skoda rises to 90

Eye always works with the car:
Direct fans.
No thermostat.
Refrigerant 50/50

Amigos skoda

Ventiladores directos.

Sin termostato.

Refrigerante 50/50

Sorry, translator is not good.

Greetings, chick "Pollito"

Listen to Ricardo that this means a lot. I imagine you've checked if the car has no refrigerant leak it?

if not for some hose leaks, then do what you say ricardo, I helped me a lot.

There are a few things that you are doing wrong:

  • Do not run the engine without a thermostat. Install a thermostat for tropical countries (starts opening at 80ºC)
  • Do not run the radiator fan connected directly (all the time)

The engine runs best at 90ºC. The fuel consumption is bigger below 90ºC. The thermostat helps reaching that temperature as fast as possible.

The radiator fan will have a short life if it runs continuously. If the engine overheats frequently (coolant temperature over 95-100ºC) then you must find the cause, not run the fan all the time.

From your description I suspect three possible issues:

  1. there is some debris in the cooling system
  2. there is air trapped in the cooling system
  3. the coolant temperature sensor is bad

I recommend the following for each issue:

  1. Empty the cooling system and collect the coolant in a container. Remove the drain bolt in the engine block. Flush the cooling system with hose water through that hole.
  2. Bleed all the air from the cooling system using the highest point (the hole of the temperature sensor).
  3. Borrow an identical sensor to check if the temperature still jumps rapidly.

Greetings friends. thanks for the help

¿RicardoM and IsmaelSK are Dominican Republic?

IsmaelSK: Search found no leaks, hoses also look weak. all right

RicardoM: Remove the expansion tank has a mud like coffee in the area that goes to the radiator, I'm thinking apart and wash it under pressure.

Also to pressure wash the engine block.

Do any product to clean the radiator?

1) dishwasher soap.

2) vinegar diluted in water

3) muriatic acid diluted in water

4) only wash with water pressure

Saludos amigos. gracias por la ayuda

¿RicardoM e IsmaelSK son de Republica Dominicana?

IsmaelSK: busque fugas no encontre ninguna, tambien busque mangeras debiles. todas bien

1) jabon lavaplatos.

2) vinagre diluido en agua

3) acido muriatico  diluido  en agua

4) solamente lavar con agua a presion

Greetings again:

For there is a product easy to get here in Rep. Dominicana called Radiator Leak or something. It is a product with the old liquid leave it running for a few minutes until the water is hot and then clean as you recommended Ricardo pressurized water if possible.

Ask about product any house the parts that usually have it and not get very expensive. You read the instructions carefully so you do not encounter problems and what I've said here is what I remember and is not accurate at all. Would be good if you ask Ricardo also thinks that the product for more security.

Also, if the liquid is already as mud, that's not a good sign and I hope to be wrong, so you have to change the liquid by one in good condition.

And except keep the coolant is good to follow the steps Ricardo told you to clean, so you save remove the radiator

Do not use any corrosive liquid to clean the radiator. The majority of commercial liquids for flushing the cooling system have acetone in them. They are recommended when there is oil mixed in coolant. In your case I recommend flushing the radiator in both directions with water under pressure from a garden hose. Flush until water exits clean in big volume. You can recognize that a radiator works well when the upper hose is hot and the lower hose is colder at idle.

Do not forget to eliminate all the air trapped in the thermostat housing. Hot air trapped under the temperature sensor can produce erratic, rapid indications on temperature gauge. The same thing happens if the temperature sensor is bad.

Your goal is to have a cooling system that works all the time at 90 C.

Excellent advice, it is always better expert opinion

I have good friends and bad news that was bad was the sensor and the very dirty radiator.

Saturday wash the radiator under pressure, but I understand that that day the temperature sensor damage not turned up I assumed that he had solved the problem. but no, I did a little trip on Sunday was still unmarked indicator until the car died away.

when I went to see the engine was hot wait 30 minutes until cool.
engrua take the car to home.

Monday when trying to start the car was failing, pulling water through the exhaust like a key in 30 seconds expasion dry tank, all that water shot through the exhaust, also the oil is white and filled with water.

What do you recomend?

buy another motor.

How bad this my engine? what happened inside?

**********************************************

Saludos.

That is why a well maintained cooling system is so important. Overheating the engine is the recipe for disaster. Skoda is partially to blame for not implementing a warning system when coolant temperature reaches 100 C. A buzzer or a siren.

In your case I suspect a major cylinder head gasket failure. Maybe a crack in the cylinder head. There is no need to buy a new engine, unless you can find a good one very cheap. If you decide to replace the cylinder head gasket and repair the cylinder head, remember this:

  • it is mandatory to resurface (make straight) the cylinder head (culata)
  • you must repair the cooling system properly
  • find good mechanics that have all necessary tools for measuring the cylinder head, torquing it, and measuring compression. This is not a job done on the side of the road by amateurs.

IsmaelSK knows better what can happen if you don't follow those basic rules. Ask him.
