PAS light

Featured Replies

Hi folks

I have a 2002 Fabia 1.4, my colleague who I bought it off in May said every morning the PAS light would come on and steering would go heavy. restarting the engine always cleared it and then it would be fine for rest of the day until the next morning.

After I got the car, it didn't happen at all for approx. a month.  Now it happens now and again, but not as frequently as with the previous owner.  It never comes on whilst driving, and car has just passed an MOT yesterday with no advisory's.

Any idea what might cause this?  Is it an ECU fault rather than a PAS fault?

TIA

Very likely to be a slight charging fault. Check voltage across battery terminals before and after starting engine, (with no heavy current consumers in the cabin switched on).

Check signal wiring to alternator, see this thread for some hints about finding that.
