Oil inspection

Featured Replies

Ok so I've just purchased my octy Vrs mk2 07 last week and this week whilst sitting idle I've noticed a really bad oil smell , (it's probably due an oil change ) but when limiting the cap the oil seems really gritty and you can see small grit particles in it , my question is , is this normal for old oil ? Should they be grit in it ?

Also after sat in idle for a while and pulling away only for a couple of few seconds they's lots of white smoke then it goes .

Both of your posts suggest that it's burning oil (and heavily at that).

Any ideas why it would be burning oil ?

And this is only after starting been cold

If its white I would think it's actually water vapour. The head gasket could be leaking. Check your oil and see if it is milky in colour or if there is a creamy deposit in the oil filler cap as it will be the water and oil emulsifying.
